My son and I just returned from bow hunting Catalina Rams with JB Hunting Service in Del Rio,TX. I set the hunt up with Josh Blowey from TBH. Blane and I met David Hall at the ranch this past Friday. We wanted to see some new country and do something different. After unpacking, speaking with David and one of their lease members ( Kent ), we shot our bows. We readied ourselves for the afternoon hunt. The wind was howling Friday afternoon. It made stalking easier though. I was first up and connected on a nice Ram at 41 yards. The group did not go far....at first. Blane attempted a shot at 51 yards but it was too windy. He let down. The rams ended up going up the other side of the canyon through a steep crevice. We went back to my ram and took some pics. From there we were off to find another group to stalk. David spotted a good ram by itself and led Blane on a stalk. Blane made a 37 yard shot and had his first ram down. It was a good one. Not long after Blane spotted another group so we were off for about a 400 yard stalk. We followed them back over another ridge and down towards the Devils River. ( Great views!!!!! ) Blane made a great shot and arrowed his second ram of the hunt. We took some more photos and headed back to the ranch house. David was a fantastic host and guide. Blane and I had as much fun speaking with him, listening to some of his hunting stories, and looking at his pics of Elk and Axis. We had a great time sharing a camp with David and Kent.
