    First responder assistance question

Not trying to make this long or post a sob story. Just wanted to ask if anyone knows of any programs out there to assist first responders with getting a vehicle due to a loss during the ice storm.

    Here is what happened.

I am a police officer and was driving to work in the ice storm. As I was going down a steep hill in my personal vehicle, the vehicle spun out of control and rolled several times. The vehicle is a total loss. Due to the age of the vehicle, we only had liability insurance.

Here lies the problem. Back in December, our other vehicle caught on fire and burned up. So we had to get another one. Like most people, we had to finance it. We don't have the funds to finance another.

So I am trying to see if there is any assistance programs for first responders, to help us get another vehicle.

If y'all know of any programs, please let me know.

Ask the agency you work for if they have a fund. Both of my agencies have employee funded programs. My first one fave me some money to help when my mom got sick and we were told she wasn’t going to live. My second gave me some when baby spent weeks in nicu. Also, ask whoever your legal representation is. I’m with cleat and they helped when baby was born.

Do you have any assets such as guns or other valuable items you can liquidate to help you just get something that will get you around. You can always replace that stuff later in life. Or even do a cash out refinance on your home if possible.
As mentioned, a lot of departments have an employee assistance program but never heard of them funding a whole vehicle.
I would just recommend selling some things you don’t need or picking up some off duty til you can buy another. Might not be easy but I’m sure there is a way to make one vehicle work until you can get situated.
Or see if you department had a take home patrol car to use while you save up a little to get a reliable vehicle.

Market it right, and word it right, Gofundme will have you a new car by the end of the week.
What people are able to do on there blows my mind.

When you can scrape it together, I can arrange you a wholesale vehicle from 1500.00 bucks to 50,000.00

Buy at police auction seized or abandoned vehicles and retired patrol cars are selling cheap all the time.

Maybe find someone that can float you a loan. Work extra jobs and pay it back. Goto your association and tell them you are in a bind and will to work anywhere and anytime. Good luck.

Here is even better. You are a Sheriff/TX DPD/Constable/Local PD patrolling a speed trap. (I am thinking Wise and Denton County) You are patrolling HW 380, but there is no traffic, due to the ice. Park on the side of the road, then get paid to count cars.
Yes, real people do get "snow days". Nearly everything in our town was shut down during those 2-3 days, because our infrastructure isn't built for days like that.

Here's even better. You're in a small rural community, and grandma collapses with a coronary. You think EMS is going to be first on scene? You're delusional. SO/PD almost ALWAYS is, and is first to start CPR. Hunting Accident? 4wheeler accident? yup, SO. House on fire in an area with a VFD? Guess who's going to be there checking to see if everyone is out? Emergencies don't stop happening because driving conditions are unsafe, and yes, First Responders do have to go to work when everyone else doesn't.

You have zero, and I mean zero understanding of the things you speak of with such contempt.

                    First responder assistance question

This plano dude is either trolling the heck outta us or a rrrrreal piece of work.

While I’ll agree the post is not my style, the dude clearly needs assistance.

I’ll count cars in your honor tomorrow while I sit on the highway[emoji1787]

I feel like I need to edit the just to note the fact I was using sarcasm in my counting cars statement.....I am on baby leave. So I’ll count them when I get back[emoji1360]

Ha. A lot less drama in the classifieds. (Pre pandemic and election anyhow)

Do the GoFundMe, but have one of your friends make it on your behalf. I bet it’ll perform a whole lot better that way.
