My allowance for doing chores was getting to eat. And there weren't aluminum cans when I was a kid.

For most of my childhood eating was my allowance too. Like I said allowance only lasted a couple of months. Still not sure what prompted my dad to do it. Hell he worked 2 or 3 jobs most of my childhood just make ends meet.
I do remember when beer cans were all steel tho. Aluminum just got started during my latter "kid" years.
