The 9000 predator will cover most needs. I’ve ran Honda’s for years and they are fantastic. I’ve also ran Coleman,
Northern star, champion, generac and onan

The Honda is “better” .... but not the best value and all others will work very well

Like saying you got to get a Swarovski scope.... them leupold will fail ya. ..... ok

I got a Cabelas Champion I'll sell you. worked like a Champ!!! First time using it. Broke in properly. Had over 100 eggs incubating and saved those, and we had TV, light, Internet and heat. Gas to cook on. We were comfortable.

[QUOTE=RMW;15478943]I like Honda’s for the reliability, just whatever you buy keep fuel stabilizer in it all the time[/QUOT

Drain the tank and run empty

I was going to purchase a champion generator. Then I looked up where they are built. Built in CHINA! Looking at Westinghouse now.

We’ve got a powerhorse 3500 (northern tool version of the predator generators). Bought it for our RV and used it more for the blackout this past week than we ever did for the RV. It ran non-stop with no issues keeping our fridge, freezer, TV, modem and two space heaters going using about 5-6gals of gas per day. We could only one run space heater on high and one on low since I didn’t have a 30amp cord. If I would have had the power inlet installed on the house I could have easily run the furnace blower. If you wait till harbor freight puts out their 30% off coupon you can get the predator 3500 generator for close to your budget.

With all that being said, I think I’ll be getting the firman tri flow generator from Costco to run off nat gas. I had a few 5gal gas cans that kept us going and still had 2 full cans when the power came back on, but filling up the tanks and looking for fuel is a pain!

I bought 2 of these. Only one worked during this event (both brand new) and it handled most of what we gave it, but I could have definitely used 2. Good thing is it was quiet and very fuel efficient when not under full load. You can operate it from your phone too.

What do you think was wrong with the other one?

Its something with the auto choke. I eventually got it to run after the storm was over and I had time to mess with it. Im going to get them to fix it though so I can start it via the app.

Ok. Does it have an O2 sensor? I saw a video on the 4000 where that was bad and it wouldn't let it start.

I've been able to convince the wife on a whole house generator now. I;m looking for one that runs on LP since i have a 500 gallon tank already

I'm not that mechanical, so I'm not sure. I bought the extended warranty, so ill.let them figure it out. The one that works though as intended was slick. That app was nice. Here is a screenshot of it. Here it was under load by the space heater which draws a ton of power. My refrigerator barely put it under load for comparison.

I also could set a timer for it to turn off after a set time if I wanted to, and start it. It was nice in the morning not having to brave the cold with the app.
