9000 Watt Predator Conversion To Propane?

Thinking of buying a 9000W Predator Generator.

I have a 6500W and it has been an awesome machine.

Has anyone ever converted a generator of this size to a Dual Fuel Carburetor and ran it on Propane?

If so, how long does a 20lbs Propane tank last running wide open?

My current home is on Propane for stove and heaters, just seems like an easier option to run a small back up generator on propane as well.

    TIA

      Haven't converted mine..........yet.
Have seen the conversion carbs tho.

Think it might be a tad more difficult than just changing carbs.

Mine, in this weather, I have to choke it to get it started and slowly unchoke it.
I don't know if the propane conversion over rides this situation.
I suppose that's more a concern if you want to "automatic" start it.

I've run mine, maybe a total of 2 or so hours so far so I can't give a long term evaluation.
Only complaint I have is the rubber membrane over the start-stop switch, at least in 10° weather, is rather inflexible; I require a blunt object with a pretty good handle to push it far enough in to start AND stop.

It as easy as buying this https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...0?ie=UTF8&psc= Find the one for your generator. 20 pound bottle will last about 6 hours with my generator.

6500 They run really well on propane. I installed a disconnect in my well house. I back feed into the house, turning off breakers that I will not use. To have spare generator I bought another 6500 before hurricane season, never used it. I am going to buy one of the 12,000 dual fuel and set up a 250 gal tank.

Yes, I just converted my 8750 over to dual fuel a couple of weeks ago. Works like a champ. There are lots of YouTube vids on it. Pretty simple conversion...mine did require a few modifications because of the air filter box but nothing too aggressive.

Here is the conversion carb I bought. It was only $35 at the time though.

Dang I love the green screen

Rascal - what are you running on yours?

                        Back feeding your panel?

We are in the process of building a house. We had the electricians install an interlock-switchover device to the main panel and a receptacle outside that I can plug the generator into. It will obviously run on propane and will be wired to a dedicated double pole 30amp breaker to feed the panel.
This is obviously not a “whole home” system. My goal is to just be able to run the essentials and be as relatively comfortable as possible. We have a propane stove, hot water heaters and fireplaces.
I plan on creating an Excel cheat sheet and labeling the heck out of everything...being mindful of wattage and amp load. I anticipate I can run everything needed with exception of AC.

Look at US carburetor site I put their kit on my 9000 watt predator generator. I did not have to replace the carburetor. You simply put their gasket adaptor between the air filter and the intake of the carburetor. Then I mounted the pancake regulator on the frame of the generator. I run mine on natural gas supply from my house so I'm no help on how long it will run on a 20# propane bottle.

When you convert to run on propane do you lose any wattage hear some where it will lower wattage or hp
