    Summer vacation question

Question for you guys... I’m in the tourism industry up here in Alaska. With the current economic, political, and Covid situation, do you all plan on traveling out of state this year? Not asking for Alaska, but are you making Summer vacation plans to go out of state? What are your concerns? We are trying to figure out if we need to double down on advertising or lean out. Just wondering opinions and plans... Thank!

Make me a deal on a black bear hunt and a good salmon trip and I’ll book tomorrow!

Prob not out of state, BUT that doesn’t have anything to do with Covid. We have too many expensive soccer camps this summer to fit in out of state vacations. Probably go to Port A and the Frio River as is our typical summer routine.

We’re going to Gulf Shores. We go every year. No real concerns.

We are traveling. All adults vaccinated, so not worrying about Covid.

With Alaska cruising potentially blocked till next year and the news indicating that Canada is making it difficult (due to covid and/or revenge for a pipeline dispute), we never looked in that direction and are heading south.

If travelling to Alaska, you would need to make me understand how I am getting there and back with things like the changing travel Covid testing req'ts and that the destinations are not gutted by sanctions.

Not exactly answers to your questions...

Still lots of unknowns traveling out of state. Didn’t make our usual trip last summer because many of the eateries were closed or limited. Rental places were closed. Non-residents had special restrictions. I go to relax- and it was too big of hassle.

I know folks will be chomping to travel as soon as things improve. Air travel seems like a big hurdle for Alaska

We went to Alaska 2 times last summer/fall and have already made plans to go back again this August.

Yes, I was going to go to Alaska in 2020 but the quarantine was ridiculous. I will be heading to MT this summer

Yes we are going to Montana fly fishing, whitewater rafting, hiking, and site seeing. Spending my money in other republican states. I would be all over an Alaska trip but getting back to the lower 48 would be my concern.

Yes traveling, zero concerns but we're driving.

I missed the caribou application deadline, so I won’t be there in the fall. I’d have no issue doing a week or less fishing trip if I don’t have too much hassle to get there. We’ve saved a lot of money up not doing a lot for the last year. No sports and no daycare have also kept money in our pockets. My biggest concern is keeping up with the housing boom and not being away from work much.

We had planned a trip to Alaska for summer of 2021. But COVID has forced us to push it back another year.

We had plans to travel out of state but were concerned much of what we would partake in would be closed. No concerns about contracting COVID, at home nor out of state.

yes out of state and out of country, only thing I am worried about is getting somewhere and not being able to get home due to some "rule" getting implemted while I am gone wherever

Yes we are driving to Colorado to spend 10ish days around the Rocky Mountain National Park. Hiking, fishing, overnight backpack trip, etc.
