    Question for the taxidermists

Getting ready to go on a javelina hunt and want to try to do a DIY Euro mount. I wanted to do it on a base and have it so it looks like the skull just sitting on the dirt with some Prickly pear and other stuff around it. Does anybody have any advise on how I can preserve actual prickly pear pads to use or do I need to buy fake ones? never done this before so any advise would be welcomed and appreciated

You can occasionally find real freeze dried pear pads but it's not common any more. The old school fake cactus were terrible but there are some newer products out there now that aren't too bad. There's a guy on FB selling decent fakes for $10 per pad so it can add up quickly. I've molded two pads and a pear but never got around to casting any.
