    Orange trees

Easy question what type of orange trees do you have in southeast Texas ?

Several varieties will work if protected from hard freezes, but satsumas are the prominent types in the area.

Satsumas are the most common in SETX.

My dad is in Orange and he grows satsumas, mandrin and cara caras and let me tell you......... those are the best oranges I have ever had. I grow a lot of my own vegatables in my back yard and for the most part I can tell a difference over what you can get at the store but these oranges are better exponentially over what you can get at the store.

I have 2 "Orange" trees and 2 "Tangerine" trees bought from Lowes before the hybrids got popular. Been in the ground 20+ yrs. They produce all the citrus I need. Also have a seedless Satsuma that has just started producing fruit in the past couple years. Those along with a few lemons and a Ruby Rio grapefruit and I have enough to give quite a bit away. Only thing I need now is a Lime to be complete!

              Man !
I would kill for some Satsumas and Cara Caras.
Haven’t had any good ones since we stopped going to Venice fishing a few years back.

Satsumas are all over the Lake Charles area. I would imagine they would grow well in southeast Texas also

I have an Artic Frost Satsuma. It is Cold hardy, down to 10-15 F. I bought it so I don’t have to worry about freezing temps.
