My echo has buzzed up 60 or so trees. Hasn’t missed a beat. I only run ethanol free gas in it. Next weed eater I buy will be an echo

I bought a new MS 170 for$170. Good saw for yard cleanup and light occasional use. Next time I would move up a notch, no complaints on the 170 just prefer something a little more capable.

Yes, take a look at the Milwaukee Fuel 18V Chainsaw 16" bar. Especially if you have Milwaukee cordless tools. They take the same battery. The Fuel series.
For small work you cannot beat it. For heavy work there is no replacing a gas driven saw.

Stihl 20v electric here. Love it. For 90 percent of what most people use a chain saw for, it's great. Never clean a carb, change the plug, or fiddle with it to get it started.

I weekend warrior it with my 170, think it's 4-5 years old now

I've only ever ran motomix in it and I can leave it for 6 months and grab it and start in just a few pulls.

I’ll also throw in on the Stihl ms171. Run 93 octane ethanol free and six years now it runs and starts like a champ. Whole set up was $200 after tax. Light enough to run all day but big enough to do what I need it to do

For everyday big jobs it wouldn't work but for us weekend warriors I couldn't be happier.

                  Hope that helps
Thats what I got. Learn the proper starting sequence and run 50/1 mix.

For what you want, I would get a battery powered polesaw... To heck with bending over and sticking your head up in the tree/brush cutting limbs. I have a 40V Green Works and its a beast for trimming senderos, lease roads and my trees at the house. We spent 18 hours over several days clearing roads and it was a tree eater. Two guys on my lease now own them after they saw it work. 8" blade and I cut 4" branches with it. Battery lasts longer than I do.. Main pole makes the unit just under 5' total and comes with an extension to make it up to 8' for taller items. Love the 5' section because I don't have to bend down or reach up in a tree to cut stuff...just stick it in the brush while standing outside of it and mow them down......Its very easy to handle and makes me feel like a landscaping samurai ..

How long does a battery last for you? I've been wanting to get a battery powered pole saw for some brush clearing down senderos. Use would be way too infrequent to want to mess with a gas motor

Thinking about picking up the smallest STIHL or ECHO model, both look to be about $200. Are any of the Ryobi, Craftsman etc saws worth buying? 14-16" bar for small limbs and underbrush etc.
I work for a Stihl dealer,,, the ms 170 is a terrific saw,,, i would not get the 180 or 181,,,, you will not regret the ms170

My Stihl is 37 years old, cut a cord or two a year and lobbed of a bunch of wood today. Would never consider another brand.

My battery ryobi is a cutting machine. Goes thru blade oil like crazy.
Maybe an hour on a battery. I carry a spare battery.

I would go with the Stihl 170 and big Corona limb loppers
