    Advice needed

Would like to use use my recurve in the field. I would appreciate your invite and advice on a quiver and blind suggestions. I have typically used pop ups, but am sure the length of the bow would cause an issue. Any suggestions appreciated.
    Thanks
    Bert

Several guys raise their pop ups off the ground 4-6 inches and it gives clearance for a trad bow.

I use large blinds. I think the best one is barronett Big Mike. It’s 80” tall. Plenty of room. As for a quiver do you want a bow quiver or a hip quiver? What bow do you have?

Back in September I bought a Rusk "extra tall" pop-up off Amazon for $179. It is 84" tall. I sit on a slightly shortened bar stool and still have plenty of room for my 60" longbow. It has been out in the woods for 4-5 months and has held up well so far.

Ive used the Barronetts Big Mike for several years and left it in the field as such. Really durable. Several trees fell on it. I just bought another one off Amazon because the cows gave my old one a sun roof. No need for any special chair for it. Im too tall to shoot standing in any blind.

The Ameristep Bone Collector is good too but the zipper is super loud. I dug my chair legs into the ground 4-6” to get clearance for my 60” longbow. The cows have tossed it a few times with little to no damage incurred.

The Bone collector and Big Mike both have low corner windows that allow for low shots...I place my blind topographically elevated for my intended shooting lane and target bait area.

I also have an older Primos Double Bull but I dont like how its windows dont go down low...really limited to straight on shots and its about the same size as the Ameristep... a chair would need to be dug into ground or blind raised for limb clearance.

Ill holler back later as to my quiver. I forget the manufacturer.

          Good luck Bert.
          God bless!

As far as quivers, it is a personal preference thing. Many like bow quivers but for going to and from the blind I prefer one with a strap I can wear over the shoulder or on my back. Here's one made by Great Northern

Shot a 62" Palmer and Sweptwings out of the old Double Bull blind as well as their more current Double Bull XL and XXL. I had Palmer and Erdmann both put screw inserts in the risers for the standard Bear quiver. Always worked fine for me.

The other think I used to do is hunt in a Ghillie Suit... Used to be a company that made them out of the material that the leafy wear suits are made from... Killed my first elk with a recurve wearing one. Killed many, many whitetailed deer wearing one sitting on a stool too...

I've shot a 62" longbow with regular metal folding chairs out of standard size popups but it is pretty tight and I had to cant the bow and shoot out of a corner window to make it work. I just ordered an Ameristep Haven for turkey season with my new 64" recurve. One of the tallest popups that I've come across and wasn't as expensive as some of the competitors. If it ends up still being a little too low of a ceiling, then I will just dig into the ground a little so that the chair legs are buried to lower my butt.

For bow quivers, there are a ton of options depending on what you want. Selway has a few different models that can either slide on, strap on, or be secured with your limb bolts.

If possible be sure to practice shooting out of your blind. Looking through that window from dark to light can throw off your depth perception. Get comfortable shooting through the window and are not worrying about hitting the blind.

This is especially true if you shoot instinctive without any "aiming" aid such as sights... My original Double Bull Blind with those small windows in the corners really took some getting used to...

https://selwayarcheryproducts.com/quick-detach.html ...rubber hood for my Sarrels Blue Ridge S/R.
Im not sure this will work for the width of a recurve limb. Theyve plenty of options.

I wanted a two piece quiver and not a single piece with a metallic spine...my attempt to reduce weight. Non leather for weather and moisture purposes.

He is right. In my Double Bull blind there are some small corner windows. Id never consider shooting from them personally due to my form and parallax paranoia...Ive loosed an arrow and slapped an opening with an arrow shaft before and gut shot a buck...I found via buzzards about two weeks later. My fault...not the blinds. The zipper on the Double Bull is heavy duty coarse tooth and alot quiter than an ameristep bone collector fine tooth.

Also the Ameristep Bone collector doesnt have an overlap of the zipper and I got busted a few times being highlighted by the zipper allowed daylight behind me. I ended up taping the window zippers not used behind me to keep from highlighting my figure. Im kinda fidgity and move alot more than I should. Also, I like to hide and not watch the deer come in.

Wow, thank you all so much. This gives me a lot to think on. I used to hunt ground blinds with my compound, but grew tired of the 5am “surprise there’s something in ur blind”! I moved to hang on tree stands. I was thinking of a over the shoulder quiver.
Again I can’t thank everyone enough for their input.
