With the extended MLD season we get two weekends in October, every weekend plus two full weeks during the regular season, one weekend in January and February and the full spring turkey season. We have 4 to 5 work weekends during the off season and we can hunt hogs at that time as well as fish on one of the many lakes and ponds. We were paying $16.50 an acre and it’s going up to 18.5 an acre. Is this too much? On average we kill sub 130” to 130” deer and the population seems sparse the last couple years. We are trying to manage the 8 points since we started MLD this last season and there has been 160ish inch deer killed in the past but maybe 2 or 3. There is also no bow, dove or duck hunting. Should I feel like I am paying to much or am I just wining?
In my opinion, it’s too much to not have year round access and all the other restrictions. But you’ve got a lot of hunters to spread it around. And you’ll probably never have trophy deer if everyone gets a “trophy” every year. If the management issue was addressed elsewhere in thread I apologize. I open this early today and replied later

Sounds like a nice place with terrible stipulations “for me”. If you could find another place then do it.

Not a bad price, bad rules make it a bad price though. Land owner calls the shots but this seems just crazy. I wonder what goes on during the week. I’d rather pay $30/acre with full access and zero BS.

I would be looking for another spot. The price isn’t even the main reason. All the limitations on when you can and can’t be there, as well as no bow hunting would be enough for me not to want it. That being said, it’s way too expensive

There is way to much wrong in that place. Wouldn't have been there in the first place

Sounds like he wants your money, but doesn’t really want y’all there. Doesn’t sound like a comfortable place to be, with all the rules and micro managing everything you do.

Doesn't sound enjoyable to me. At any cost. Plenty of fair priced pkg hunts you could do that could provide some great memories or keep looking for another place.

Nope, got off a place because like you I was questioning the value of the lease. I’m off and it’s sucks not having a place but I’m the end I’m not questioning the price anymore.

This.^^^^^^^ He wants his cake and eat it to. Seems like there are more and more landowners like that now days.BUT....... At the end of the day nobody is twisting your arm to get on leases like this. If you decide to pay up and get on this type of lease you have no right to complain later. Like "Steve Miller" said in his song,"Take The Money An Run".

No weekdays would be a complete deal breaker to me. I take a rutcation every year and hunt almost exclusively weekdays. Pressure is lower, and I get to spend the weekend with the family.

I can’t justify the cost of a lease right now anyways, but I wouldn’t even consider a place with rules set up like what y’all are dealing with. I don’t care the price, either, to be honest.

Seems like he must day lease or something as not having full access is odd. I’ve seen deer lease access and leasing out for turkey and stuff separate, but not controlled weekends and such. Unless you have lots of deer per person on MLD, seems high priced for what you are getting.

Not a bad price for a lease if it wouldn't for all of the restrictions. Look, it's unfortunate but Joe Biden is doing all he can to wreck oil production and the economy. Leases will come open, and the prices may decline.
