    RC Car Questions

I have a Traxxas Nitro Stampede that I bought back in college. Been in the attic for probably 15 years now. I need to drag it out and see how bad it is but I see Traxxas has a trade in/upgrade program so I could get a new transmitter for $70 and an upgraded motor for $85. With the adapter kit for the motor I think I would be around $200. Is that money well spent or should I just get a new RTR electric kit. Nitro was always a pain anyway. Or should I just avoid this random Wednesday thought all together and save my money.

If you're not in love with that truck you can just get a new electric one and go.

They are a pain and the new brushless models are so much faster. I would just sell it or put it on a shelf, then get you something that will with little issue.

I agree my traxxas 3 cell lipo is crazy fast. So fast you can't drive at full speed

I've had a few that would hit 75+. Talk about breaking a lot of parts when you hit something.

These are just all around fun and fast with 3s.

I've got oversized tires on mine...it kinda starts getting air born before getting to full speed..and yes I replace the complete front ends more than once. Even if you use the aluminum after market parts....They still don't hold up on impact at full speed

My brothers Traxxas VXL hits just north of 75mph. It’s not stock it’s pretty modified but he plans on getting it up to 100mph+

For sure don't put $200 into a 15 year old stampede. Are you REALLY going to play with a new RC car? If not, sell the stampede on craigslist and move on. I fancy the idea every now and then on getting a new brushless monster truck to play with but I know it'll only get used a few times then collect dust.

I have been out of the game for litterally 20 years. A few years back some folks had a track in the parking lot outside a hobby shop so I pulled over. When I got out of my truck I immediately thought "where is all the noise". I was shocked at how fast the electric ones are now. All the guys that I was talking to about my old nitro car were looking at me like I was a dinosaur.

Nitro is so much fun but so messy, lol. I gave up on that after my third nitro and stuck to electric. Then I had kids, lol.

Electric with the Brushless motors and a LIPO battery is a ton of fun.

If you like the water. The brushless boats are nuts. I've got a Proboat that hits 60mph, but that is fast as I push it before she decides to fly...

I accept your reality but choose to ignore it for now. Yes this is what will happen most likely.

                              Thanks everyone
