Work ethic/motivation

It always cracks me up when I read posts from fans when they talk about someone's preparation, work ethic, or "drive." As if somehow watching a guy for a few hours a week and seeing an interview with them or their teammates makes them an expert on their ability to determine that Brady has more drive than Romo for example... You wouldn't know unless you have been in the locker room with them both and been around for 60-80 hours a week together.

People think they know but they don't. No one realizes how great of a coach Mike Tomlin is. He was able to keep all of Antonio Brown's crap bottled up and out of the limelight for 9 years! Most fans had no idea what a selfish, entitled player he was until he was out of Pittsburgh.

It's the same with people all of sudden now dogging on Belichick because Brady has had some success with TB. Crazy how 1 year can change millions of people's mind on a guy when they truly have no clue. Y'all really think the 19 years he spent learning from Belichick didn't help him to be what he is today? Give me a break...

I always thought I knew a lot about football and then I became a football coach. Been doing it for long enough now that I realize that I didn't know squat until I was actually coaching a football team. Watching football on tv and listening to analysts does nothing for any actual football knowledge. You only get bits and pieces of stuff.

I watched a couple documentary type "clips".

And I doubt Brady ever took a vacation prior to a playoff game (Romo - but cant blame him. Jess S in Cabo be hard (no pun) to turn down (ok, maybe a lil pun).

Do you know if he did or didn't? Further proof that people just base their opinion on speculation or what reports they see on ESPN.

All teams have off days when they have a first round bye. Where they go or don't go on their time off has nothing to do with their "drive" to compete during a game or their preparation when they are there. People constantly said Romo was always the first one at the facilities and the last to leave when he was playing.

Brady may very well spend a lot more time prepping that Romo did. I just find it funny when people act like they know for a fact what kind of effort, character, leadership ability, etc... a player has when they aren't there to see how they practice and prepare or what they are like on a day to day basis.

I also just re-read what I wrote earlier and I do realize it did sound a bit know-it-all/douchy. I am not trying to be a pric.k. Just pointing out that often things aren't what they seem to be on tv.
