Honestly with the current situation we have with 4 team playoff The best we Ags can hope for is squeeze into the 4 spot. Winning a conference championship is a far greater feat given SEC powerhouses.
In my opinion go to 8 team playoff get rid of conference championships altogether. They dont mean a dang thing. Ohio State lost their conference a few years ago but won the NC so conference means nothing.

The conferences make a lot of money with the conference championship games. They aren't going away.

I’m not totally in agreement with you but there definitely are not 5 “power” conferences. Any championship format that favors conference champions is not seeking to find the best teams, just the tallest midgets.

8 teams p5 winners get in top 3 outside that get in.... top 8 would cover just about every scenario be hard not to get the best teams in with 8 imo
