It's been posted before. Without knowing the entire story, it's hard to judge. Maybe the deer jumped, or the arrow hit a limb? Still sad to see and hopefully the intent was not for a "head" shot.

Hope that was an accident and not intentional.

Dang mechanicals! Yes it is sad, but there is no telling what happened at the time of the shot.

I don't like seeing this but no telling what happened. I know Ive hit deer far back, spined them, and through the brisket- Ive had deer "jump the string" and drop under the arrow. Ive been bow hunting for 20 years and shoot alot of animals. I wouldn't crucify this hunter unless you know what actually happened. He/She may be sick about it or even feel so guilty about it they quit bowhunting. Alot of things can happen once the mind tells the hand to shoot and most end up being misses.

I used to carry blunts for poppin cows in the arse. Had one swing her head around right when I let the arrow loose. She went down like a ton of rocks! I actually thought I had killed her until I noticed she was still breathing. After about 30 minutes, she came to and stood up and wobble away. Never carried another blunt since. That was back in the '80's. So stuff can happen.

Use a fender washer instead of a blunt. It works a lot better and really makes a nice "SMACK" when it hits!

There were several pics of that deer posted some time back, and don't think the shot story was posted then either. In any case, accidents do happen, but it don't make it any easier to look at. That one pic gives me the heebie-geebies!.. oh yea, agreed... dang mechanicals

Slick, the blunts I had were made from 1/2" diameter plastic mallet tips. They did the job pretty good unless you hit one in the head.
