lost my father in law with it last year. Fought it for 2 weeks in ICU. Ultimately it had latched on to his heart pig valve and grew really big. Ended up breaking loose and giving him a stroke. Terrible stuff.

I had it. In and out of hospital, pic line. Whole body ached from the antibiotics. Urine smelled like metal.

Same here. I had it in the heat of the summer and had to do my Infusions at 7 AM and PM on the dot. I was at my nieces graduation and everyone was setting balls. I popped open my little cooler and plugged in my little water balloon and was cool as a cucumber. Only good thing about the whole mess.

Make sure he sees an infectious disease doctor. Most hospital and family
Doctors will misdiagnose it and/or try to use antibiotics that won’t fight it very well. - Bactrim, clyndimycin etc.

They pump my sinus cavity full of Bactroban and high doses of some other oral stuff, I hate the side effects like thrush and yeast infections, but it’s better than the alternative

My FIL had a knee replacement that got MRSA in it. They had to remove the new hardware and leave his leg laid open for a month or so to get rid of the MRSA before redoing the knee replacement. It was rough.

I got it, Was really bad. From either a tattoo or taking the new tattoo bowfishing and getting it really dirty in fish gut mud ranch water. It took them a little too long to do a culture to see what antibiotics would work for it. Dr came in an asked the nurse where the culture was and she said they hadnent done one when I was admitted the previousl night. He came unglued. Anyway, culture showed one antibiotic that would work, and administered it. I had an allergic reaction. They went the the next one and that one worked. Spot was on my calf, and that calf was the size of a watermelon.

Methicillin Resistant staph makes up 89 % of what walks in the door and very common for contaminated hardware in ortho surgeries. Sensitivities from cultures will determine best treatment usually vancomycin iv for 6-8 weeks and sometimes having to remove the hardware. less severe cases with out hardware and mostly soft tissue rather than bone then zyvox oral can work. he is in for long ride good luck

Buddy got it after a shoulder surgery and the same thing happened. They had to go back in, remove the metal, treat him for a few weeks then go back in a ndadd new metal. No fun, a lot of antibiotics for a long time. Your FIL needs a second opinion if he is not getting treatment.

Scheduled surgery Monday to take out the metal. 5th surgery in months and a half. I’m f only this man wasn’t such a work horse, it would be a little easier for him. Although he is thrilled at watching me bust tail getting the fields ready to plant more trees in the fall.

Got it with a knee reconstruction surgery. Wasn’t fun. Had to go back in 2 times and have it removed. And heavy IV doses of serious antibiotics
