    Gas plumbing code ?

House is all electric. Wife wants gas/propane stove. Gas line only has to run about 10 feet before it will go through exterior wall where it will be hooked up to a 40lb propane bottle. Is there a code about where it is ran to get outside? Meaning does it have to go through wall cavity or can it go through the back of the cabinets?
This is above my pay grade and I have a plumber coming to look at it but I want to have my ducks in row so I don't have to deal with any issues if and when we try and sell the house.

Most will want to put in the wall, but if it is outside the wall I suspect they will require you to use black pipe to prevent any injuries to the line.

International Fuel Code Section 404.4 has most of your answers and you can find it with google - if your municipality subscribes to this code, most in Texas do, and you run through a solid wall or solid partition you’ll have to install the pipe in a casing (i.e. sleeve the pipe in a another pipe). However, I’ve never heard of a cabinet being defined as a solid partition but a brick or sheetrock wall would be. This would be pretty easy for a plumber to bid, pull a permit, and get inspected. I’d just ask the plumber if they’ve done gas work in your particular city/jurisdiction and if so, they should be aware of any/all requirements above & beyond of the fuel gas code.

It's rural area so no city and its a local plumbing company so I would assume they would know. I don't think they would try to pull the wool over my eyes but I wanted to be ready with questions if they do try something fishy.
