With the snow and ice, lets talk charging CPAP backup batteries

So I'm pretty set on the actual battery unit in the links below due to overwhelming great reviews and folks I know using them. What I'd like to talk about it charging it after a couple days use without electricity via a wall outlet. Seems like you can get 4 days use without a humidifier which is impressive. However I need a humidifier with my air flow amount....especially in cold weather. I imagine, with the humidifier, my days would be cut down to two days or so. Because of this, I'd like to be prepared to charge it via my truck. When it ices over real bad like it did the past few days, we tend to lose electricity at camp for a few days...also during spring/fall storms with a bunch of wind. I have spent a couple of nights at camp in the dark not sleeping because of it and I'm trying to progressive about it going forward. I have driven up there on a perfectly good day and electricity has been off for no real reason so it's time to be prepared.

That being said...my question is, what size inverter would I need to charge something like this given the specs you see on the links? I know nothing about inverters other than the basic concept. My only experience with an inverter was it burning up...although it was a cheap chinese POS I was given by somebody cleaning out their garage back in 2005ish. I do not have a 110 plug in my Tundra so it would need to be hooked directly to the battery while running for a couple of hours I am assuming. Since I need to buy an inverter, being able to hook one up to a small shop vac at my feed pens to clean out blinds occasionally would be a plus too. Tell me what size I'd need for both of these fellas. Appreciate it..

Here is the unit at two different links. Hopefully they can tell those who know electricity what size I need...

The Amazon link shows input to be 25 Vdc @ 3 A...( see pic below) which equals 75 watts...
Minimally, I would double the investor just to be on the safe side...

I have a 1K watt dewalt investor I purchased at Home Depot for approximately $130ish if I remeber correctly.... I would highly recommend it as you could run a buck of other stuff if necessary.

Maxoak link shows same input requirements under sepcesifications....

I just take my portable generator and run my Pak off my generator.

I would too if I had one just to leave up there. As rare as it happens, I don't think I want to make that kind of investment and leave at camp for those emergencies. The battery pack I can run anywhere and its easy to throw in my bag to take with me everywhere I could need it..

Good info Pedernal. I was thinking that 25VDC was input into my CPAP unit. Shows you what I know about electricity..

No issues Señor. Hope it helps. Obviously the 25 Vdc are coming from the included AC adapter as stated on the specs....

Perdernal... this is my smaller Shop Vac I was hoping to use with the new inverter on blind clean out day. 24 years old worth but still kicking. I’m assuming the 6.8 is amps. Don’t see anything on it for watts. Any idea what I would need to cover it? Thanks!

6.8 A @ 110 Vac = 748 watts... That 1K dewalt inverter would run it... If that is in fact the amperage it runs on.

1 horse power in watts is approximately 745 watts so you might dig a little more as to the power consumption... As two horseppower peak would be closer to 1.5 K watts...

                Watts = volts X amps

I don't know, but it seems to me if (1) I were at camp and (2) it was freezing a** cold outside and (3) the electricity was out, I'm not sure I'd give a flying f about my CPAP machine.

With the vac listing 2 hp peak you might dig more into the power consumption...

I will be in Angelo starting Monday if you want to try out the 1k watt inverter if you can't find the power consumption on the vac. I tried to find a user manual for it but I could not find one.

See second part of post 8 that I edited...

                          Found this....

                          1492 Watts

If you go by the peak of 2 HP, that would be 1492 Watts. You also have to take into consideration how efficient the power transfer it.

Yes going to need a 1.5K or 2K watt inverter...
