140 - Then I used the tactics on the TBH thread mentioned earlier. Faced call into the wind and aimed crosswind where one would circle.
Shot this one at 150 yards this evening.
Now I need to figure out best calls and what they do. Like the howling pack call, etc. Which do you guys use most besides wounded rabbit?
I don't normally start shootin coyotes until the fur gets thicker but I started doing a little control work for some friends who have a coyote problem. One of their dogs was killed by three coyotes in their yard last week. They're coming right up to the door where the dog food is. They told me they're very brave. I found out this evening. Sure enough one walks into the yard and walks down their driveway. I barked, coyote stops,I shot, coyote dropped. 55 grain softpoint out of the .223 knocked him flat.
It was this years pup. That explains why they're so brave. They just don't know any better. Still have at least two to kill. One down so far.
My oldest got this one yesterday about an hour before he shot his buck. Same stand, same window, and dang near the same spot. Buck stopped about 15 yards from where the coyote was laying
