    Duck weather question

Hello Green Screen, I’m new to waterfowl hunting but as far as I know generally birds are pushed in with a cold front and “bad” weather makes good duck/goose hunting conditions. With that said, based on the forecast in the pics which day would you hunt if it could only be one? If you don’t mind also explain your reasoning please, like I said I’m trying to learn and any new info is appreciated. This is in North Tx.

    Thanks

(My guess would be Wednesday should be good since the front will come through then, but Thursday the cold weather will be good and arrived so maybe that’s better, idk)

I would hunt Friday but part of my answer depends on where you might be hunting. Rain can prohibit bird movement, contrary to belief people think rain is good duck weather. Not saying I don't get them in the rain because I do but it hampers movement. For the best decoying, I have generally found sunny days to be the best. Give me a clear sky with 10-15 miles per hour North wind and I would call that perfect . Good luck.

Friday would be the day I’d pick

I like Thursday. The first morning of the actual front. But, I also agree with Pin Oak and would probably wait until Friday due to the rain.

Good question! I'm hunting the panhandle Saturday and Sunday. I am also new to duck hunting.

I would rather have a blue sky and lots of sunshine than cloudy/rainy. The sunshine helps them see decoys and helps you hide better(stand in shadows etc). Friday would be my day to pick over thursday.

If you can setup on a point on big water before the rain hits you may can get some of the migrating birds in. They should be just in front of the rain.

ducks will be with the front, as it comes through if not slightly before, but many of them will be flying high and never stop.
I'm with the other guys on Fri./Sat., should be good with clear skies and no rain.

Looks like you got the answer already but give me the blue sky sunny days and setup with the sun at my back if possible.

The day before a front comes in. I ran goose hunts for 20 years in Lubbock. 10am-1pm the day before a front is due, high flying migrators would pile into town. Full moon right now so they will also push at night.

I’m in the Friday/ Saturday crowd along with above reasons.

Yep like he mentioned there will be a lot of night flight on the way down with the full moon and temps dropping

Friday or Saturday. I have had my best days on cloudless, bright sunny days.
