    Potential arizona trail camera ban

i always wondered how long it would take for someone to want to outlaw cameras

ack on December 7 we released information on a potential Arizona trail camera rule change. If you missed that article, I'd suggest checking that out in addition to this one.

Just recently, the Arizona Game and Fish Department released additional information on the proposed trail camera rule change. Once again, we wanted to bring this to everyone's attention and will continue to provide more information as we receive it. Also, there is an opportunity for the public to comment on this through email from January 1, 2021 through February 1, 2021.

The proposed trail camera language reads:
“A person shall not use a trail camera, or images from a trail camera, for the purpose of taking or aiding in the take of wildlife, or locating wildlife for the purpose of taking or aiding in the take of wildlife.”
If approved, trail cameras used for research, general photography, cattle operations or any other reason other than the take of wildlife would remain legal.
“Take” means pursuing, shooting, hunting, fishing, trapping, killing, capturing, snaring or netting wildlife or placing or using any net or other device or trap in a manner that may result in capturing or killing wildlife.
“Trail camera” means an unmanned device used to capture images, video, or location data of wildlife.

I came across a watering station on public land that had more than 20 cameras around it. Maybe people are leaving them and creating trash...who knows

If that's the case. I'll bet 15 of the 20 were Moultrie cameras

Maybe it’s because when one goes missing they get a dozen phone calls wanting someone to investigate it.
                  OR
maybe it have increased the success rate to a point to where either the cameras go or tag allotment become less

I was going to post this. They do not want to sell less tags because that's less money. Make it harder to hunt and you can sell more tags. Just a WAG

Did they outlaw DEW's yet ?

The wildlife is a resident owned resource and managed by the state.
The rules would apply to both public and private property.
