If it's not coons, squirrels, crows, it's now...

Grackles. Look at all of them flying. The first time I saw this phenomenon I could hear them coming from a 1000 yards away. It sounded like the squeak of the tracks of WW2 tanks from the movies. They came out from the woods at the far end of my pasture just constantly leap frogging each other. Nothing edible by a bird survives in their path. It's really kinda cool to see. This group wasn't near as big as others I've seen. I've seen them in flocks of I'm guessing, 10,000 +. They come through in about 30 minutes and they're gone for a few years. They never hang around.

Put those breast in a gumbo. You won't know the difference between that and a dove if they are grain fed

Yikes, that'll put a dent in your corn budget.

Only those aren’t grackles. Those are regular old blackbirds. When I was a kid we used to shoot em by the hundreds and eat ‘em. They are similar looking to grackles but are grain-eaters and are quite good to eat. They also don’t have the long kite-like tail that a male grackle has. Females do look almost the same.
