if you have hogs they'll be there for deer i dont think they eat pecans that much so it shouldnt effect them

One of the ranches owned by my family that I grew up hunting on (and still hunt on for that matter) has a large pecan orchard near the river bottom. Deer will eat pecans. They prefer the corn but they will eat pecans. Turkey are the same. We don't have hogs on our place so I can't really speak to the hog issue.

where i hunt theres a orchard of a little over 1000 pecan trees and the deer are around them often but they are all over the feeders so seeing that first hand i would say they prefer corn over a pecan hogs love both but probally like corn better we dont have hogs on the ranch so i dont know for sure

They'll hit the pecans and then come hit your feeder. We had both on our lease and they went from one to the other all the time.

We have a large pecan bottom on our place and the deer love to stay in it. I have seen deer eat the pecans, but think they would prefer corn. The hogs eat them and seem to love them, plus the turkeys camp out on them.

A lot of times the pecan orchards are lightly or not hunted and they become a sanctuary of sorts for the deer, which is good for you. Also, a good pecan farmer keeps the brush cut back underneath the trees and is an excellent browse, loafing bedding area. I consider a pecan orchard next door a benefit. Also, they harvest the pecans right in the middle of rifle season and the traffic can run their deer to you. One drawback is if you hunt close to the orchard during harvest time it can be a nuisance.
