    Starter hunting bow for grandson

    Hey Guys,
I'd like to get a starter hunting bow for my Grandson. He 10 years old and average weight(65#?). I'd like something that has enough energy to take a deer at close range(15-25 yds). He wouldn't actually hunt with it before next year, so he could work up on the poundage. I know many of you guys have been through this. Any suggestions? Thanks

Bear archery has a lot of bows with a very large adjustment range for both weight and draw lengths

Our son started with the Martin Tiger (outgrew it) and then onto the Mission Menace (outgrew it) until now with the Z7 Tactical (won't outgrow it).

25 yds is testing my limits.

I got my son a bear bow when he was about that age. His first year he pulled back 27 lbs which is the legal minimum in Wisconsin. He got a deer with it every year he hunted, then gave the bow to his little cousin. His cousin has got a doe and last year a nice 8 point buck with it. Get one that the draw length and poundage are adjustable. It was easy to adjust myself and I normally adjusted it at least once a year.

I forgot to mention. I agree 25 yards is probably way to far to shoot deer. We made set ups for 15 yards or less. Get some good cut on contact 1 blade broadheads with small bleeder blade inserts.

Also get some small game field tips and shoot small game at 25 yards all day long to learn how to aim small miss small.

My kids started on a Diamond Atomic. My daughter is 11 and now has a Bear Cruzer. Its a great bow for her and it has a lot of adjustment to grow.

Diamond Edge. Fits pretty much everyone up to 5-70 lbs adjustment.
