I hunt near Stockton. Not too close, but you can cover that ground in a hurry out there.

I hunt SW of there. I have been out there for quite a few years. We started out hutinf outside of Ozona, then we moved to to a ranch at the bottom of Lancaster Hill on the Sheffield Hwy, now we are SW of Sheffield.

Our camp was just past Ft. Lancaster on the right near that wide dry creek bed.

I bowhunted on John's ranch from 1984-1992. Great guy and good hunting. Use to have a stand just off the county road in the big Oak grove on the south end of the ranch we called the buzzard roost. Best Bow stand I ever had.

Wow, small world. I hunted the Meadows ranch for 4 years right across from Foleys house. I knew it was a big ranch and see several others have hunted near there. Dad is still hunting there, been there about 9 years.

We hunted the Foley ranch for on year. Ended up being too far of a drive for what was seen.

I passed on a 8 point with about a 14 inch spread on opening morning thinking I will see plenty more deer. That ended up being the biggest buck seen on the whole place all season. There were some big Mulies spotted but not during the season.

We were stand/ feeder hunting. While you could see a long way I think it may have been better to just grab a rifle and walk around.

                          Huge Ranch, beautiful terrain.

My buddy and I leased from him about 3 years ago. Neither one got any deer. No bucks and the does we did see were in bad shape. The pasture we had was up a steep hill, is what I do remember(caliche). We never saw any turkeys or javis, for that matter. Looked really promising when we got on, just didn't work out. That was my first and only year. Pretty country though. I should have taken a bow and shot the carp in the creek near the campsite. There were quite a few in there.
