    Need some advice, please

I'm going to hire a contractor to clear my fence line.

Other than the obvious, what questions should I ask? Obvious "would be how much?" and "how long will it take?"

What’s he gonna do with the brush and the old fencing? I’d ask for a written bid that includes the scope of work. That way it’s clear between both parties on: What’s going to be done? How is it going to be done, and What’s it going to cost.

Yep, get at least three bids if you can, and references from folks who have used them before. Make sure they call Dig Tess so they know where any underground lines are located. You are probably gonna be asked what YOU want to do with the brush and old fence. Two choices (at least), burn the brush and bury what won’t burn or pile it up and leave it. Your choice, but I’d get rid of it. If you bury, get at least 3/4 feet of cover over it and make sure they compact it as it goes in, otherwise it will sink after a few rains. Good luck !

Edit: Dig Tess may be dated. Probably better known as One Call now, I’m old, but I used to do this stuff for a living

stipulate the payment terms, like upon completion or after major phases of the project are complete.

I'm pretty sure it is an hourly rate x estimated time, Fmjag64.

The contactor had to reschedule for this morning. I'm trying to get a second contractor but he can't even come take a look to bid for at least 10 days.
