    Squirrels gone wild

Put this bran feeder up at the beginning of bow season...2 weeks ago it was working fine. This is what I found Friday night..... Anybody have any solutions to keep the squirrels from doing this?? It hangs from a tree with a rope...

    Go metal.

How does that feeder work? Spinner?

I had the exact same feeder with the exact same problem. I put a metal lid on it and duct taped up the holes really well. then put some flex seal over it. No issues since.

The metal lid comes down the side by about 6 inches and overhangs by about 3.

Might try to attach chicken wire to it some how. But those little fellas are pretty crafty

Have you tried a good pellet rifle? That seems to work well around my house.

peterp63 It has a counter balance on the motor. It actually vibrates and shakes the bran and corn out. It was working great until those little arses tore it up . New lid from OnTime Feeders was $12.00 + shipping

You could get a metal feeder funnel and hang it upside down on the wire between the tree and feeder. Something like this

We had some small home made feeders from plastic buckets that the squirrels chewed---but we got some of those ghost peppers, ran them thru a blender, with a bit of water. Then we painted the stuff on the buckets--stopped the chewing and also made us cautious about scratching our noses, rubbing our eyes, or taking a leak in the woods.

Only good solution is to get a metal barrel and components. They are relentless. Good luck.
