Well after the little trouble shooting I could do, I had to call the ac repair man to come look at it tomorrow. Mama won't go to many more nights without a heater.

Most likely a low voltage short somewhere. The wires in your pic are high voltage. If it’s a heat pump your problem is likely in your outdoor unit or in the wire leading to it. A decent ac guy will have you fixed in no time.
