I’m curious too. I haven’t found any meat recipes that I’ve liked. Could that be I have a cheap air fryer? It was a gift. I’m not about to sacrifice venison.

For the record we have the PowerXL 7 QT
I do shrimp without batter & they turn out more grilled but are awesome. I’ve struggled a little with right batter for shrimp & catfish filets. The batter is always a little pasty. Even spraying with olive oil.
I’m tempted to try the frozen pre-battered filets

I’m curious to see anyone respond with success on deer meat air frying

I have tried regular breaded blackstrap in the air fryer oven and it was more messy and soggy with little flavor.
But I have found air fryer chicken coating at the grocery store I thought I’d give a try one day.

The air fryer works best for reheating leftover fried backstrap because of the oil in the breading already, or so I've seen. I myself have not been able to do it like this though because "leftover fried backstrap" is not a phrase known in my home..

Skip the air fryer go straight to the grease, or my favorite, the grill.

Made some "fried" backstrap in our Ninja air fryer a few weeks ago. Turned out really good. Used the same process as deep frying in grease. Mix salt/pepper in a bowl of flour. Scramble two eggs in separate bowl. Roll steak in flour, dip it good in eggs, roll again in flour. Set it on a cookie cooling sheet for about 5 minutes. My air fryer only holds about 3 pieces at a time. Set the ninja on "air fry" and I think I cooked them for 8-10 minutes. We didnt have any left overs that night..........

I've had good luck with chicken and fish, plus any other meats you like to try with a bread crumb batter. They seem to turn out really good.

I haven't had as much luck with red meat items that are battered in flour. As others have alluded to, everything just gets kind of soggy. I can't get the batter to crisp up like it would in a traditional deep fryer.

For me, I now stick to bread crumb batters only, or things you just roll in oil and fry (french fries, etc.) Flour batter meats are a no go for me. They do re-heat really well, though!

Air fryer is also great for chicken wings/hot wings too, only issue is it takes 20 minutes a batch and I can only get about 7-8 pieces in at a time.

You have to spray the flour batter with a good coat of olive oil or probably any oil.
