I bought a 50lb bag of cottonseed to experiment with. Never having used the stuff before, it does have a dense seed core but there is enough fibery material that they all cling together. I was wondering if anyone had any success mixing this maybe 3-1 corn-cottonseed in a spinning feeder... Essentially I'm hoping the heavy corn kernels will break it apart and get it flung out far enough for the deer to eat.

Cottonseed in a spin feeder mixed with corn?

I would say not a chance. Unless you cut a hole the size of a milk jug in the bottom of your feeder. The cotton seed would clog it quick. Heck, for kicks.....try it out by filling your feeder up just a quarter of the way. You can always dump it out. Video it. The times I used cotton seed we put it in baskets or just throw it on the ground.

I don’t see how it would work in a spin feeder. I also don’t see any reason for it to.
I’ve used cottonseed for 5 years. Just pour it on the ground or make a basket to hold it.
1st......don’t overthink it.
2nd...........don’t buy cottonseed in 50lb bags 👌

Here's a before and after pic of a feeder with 1200 lbs in it.

No...they eat from it better with it open. Plus they can get to all of it better. Now I did remove the base so they could push it around if they needed to get at the very center stuff on the bottom. And push it they did
