Cottonseed in a spin feeder mixed with corn?

I bought a 50lb bag of cottonseed to experiment with. Never having used the stuff before, it does have a dense seed core but there is enough fibery material that they all cling together. I was wondering if anyone had any success mixing this maybe 3-1 corn-cottonseed in a spinning feeder... Essentially I'm hoping the heavy corn kernels will break it apart and get it flung out far enough for the deer to eat.

I would say not a chance. Unless you cut a hole the size of a milk jug in the bottom of your feeder. The cotton seed would clog it quick. Heck, for kicks.....try it out by filling your feeder up just a quarter of the way. You can always dump it out. Video it. The times I used cotton seed we put it in baskets or just throw it on the ground.

Just pour it on the ground. Don’t overthink cottonseed.

I don’t see how it would work in a spin feeder. I also don’t see any reason for it to.

I’ve used cottonseed for 5 years. Just pour it on the ground or make a basket to hold it.

If your just experimenting, pour it on the ground. If you decide to continue, make a wire basket around a T post.

That **** bridges up like a mutha. Not a chance you would get more than 2-3 spins out of it.

Agree with pour it on the ground. Throw some corn over/in or around it. If they start on it, they will pick up every kernel.

Here's a before and after pic of a feeder with 1200 lbs in it.

If you put it in a spin feeder it may spin out a sweater or sock. No way it would work for intended purpose.

I would not do it! Pile it up on the ground and see if they will hit it!

Did you wrap that in chicken wire? I have one and may be putting it to good use in January!

No...they eat from it better with it open. Plus they can get to all of it better. Now I did remove the base so they could push it around if they needed to get at the very center stuff on the bottom. And push it they did

They didn’t touch mine. It’s still the same size it was this summer.
