Make a run into F Burg Hit the German Bakery ( get there early) for breakfast. They are closed on either Tuesday/Wednesday or Wednesday/ Thursday. Take the wife shopping. A k a following wife from shop to shop. Around lunch time head East on 290 to OSR and take a right. Follow road all the way to Alamo Springs for lunch and on some days live music. The bat cave is right there as well.

We like going to The Grill at Leon Springs (southwest of Boerne off IH-10 & Boerne Stage Road). Might be considered a little on the expensive side, but they usually do Groupons and the chef changes up the menu regularly. Great food!
Hungry horse is our go-to. Never had anything bad in there at!!! The grill isn’t bad either. Wife loves it.

Lunch - Bumdoodlers Sandwich Shop is excellent.

Dinner - Cibolo Creek Brewing is good as well.
Mary’s tacos are NOT worth the wait IMO! Usually 30 minutes minimum to sit or even get take out tacos.

Not a bad lil gun shop. And there is a little breakfast restaurant just down the sidewalk that is pretty good.

Hungry horse as mentioned of course
Dog and Pony had great burgers

That's not much help but I'll always remember that one.

Joe - sure miss that place, it got shut down and then leveled as mentioned above. One of these days, I'm gonna come up and visit y'all......during the Summer I might add. And next time, we will roll to Comfort, Kerrville and or Fredericksburg.....I'll tour guide, and we can snag some German dinners somewhere. Pick up a sack of smoked sausage links for the ride home......and maybe a bottle of Fredericksburg Peach wine?

Po Po's is the only other place not mentioned above, that has a decent family style Texas country dinner. It's Northwest of town - on the way to Comfort and not too far from my home (I'm NW of town).

My Son and I have a system......he calls in an order to Mary's, right before he knocks off work at 7 am, grabs a sack full of goodness, and we have breakfast together before I kick off my work day. Weekends, Mary's knows how to toss together a decent bowl of Menudo too.

Don't forget, if lines and waits are long in Boerne.....zip over to Comfort and hit High's Cafe and Store. Believe it or not.....CRAB CAKES are darn good there and the bulk of their menu is gourmet sandwiches and finger foods. Fredericksburg is only 24 miles away....another option as well, when the crowds are on in Boerne.

Used to go there quite often, they used to have good fried chicken. I should go back, there is some Texas history in that place.

I can't vouch for many of the Boerne places as we don't get to the big city much, but if you have a hankering for the best breakfast taco in the state, got to the Chevron in Comfort. Three top notch tacos there-the red pork, the green pork, and the best barbacoa I've eaten. You can thank me later. Popo's as mentioned has incredible food but my favorite there is the meatloaf. Just like AtTheWall, I live right down the road. Been going to Popo's since I was born. As he said, High's Cafe is really, really good also.

Epicure for lunch sandwiches is really good. I usually go with the Viva Texas.

                            "High" End Places:
                            Peggy's on the Green
                            The Creek
                            Both good, but pricey

                            Mroe Reasonable:
                            Dodging Duck
Cibolo Creek Brewing Co (I am personally not a huge fan of the food but I am the anomaly)
                            Brantley's Bistro

                            Breakfast:
Mary's Tacos (have to stop here. They are amazing)
The Dienger Trading Co (your wife will love it)
All solid choices. Bums for lunch is always good as well.
