The good lord blessed me with a nice Kansas buck this morning.

The anticipated front came through last night. We woke at 5:00 to a steady rain. We decided to sleep in and make a run for it once the weather cleared enough.

We made our way in around 7:30 with perfect wind. As I neared my stand a doe bolted right towards me with a young 8 on her trail. I made a circle into my stand to not spook them.

I arrived at my stand and got all my cold gear on and camera setup. I had sat down for no more than 1 minute when I spot this guy making his was down the hill from my West. I turned my GoPro to record, my video cam on, and grabbed my bow. He was on a trail to walk by broadside at 23ish yards. I set the cam for that, but wouldn’t you know he made a 90 and came right towards the tree. I had to stop him at 7 yards for the shot as he was about to be in the brush and directly down wind. Unfortunately I didn’t get the shot on video, and my dang GoPro died after 10seconds of recording.

The shot was such a steep angle it exited low in his chest below his armpit, but it did the trick. He made it about 100 yards and piled up. Boyles77 spotted him for me and it quickly turned to high fives.

Big thanks to Ben for helping me get him out, and now it’s his turn to get it done. Blessed to be able to do this great state once again. Good luck to everyone still out.
