    Gun Safes

I am looking at safes and the cheaper ones at Academy and TSC are appealing on price. Are these decent safes? I do not have any high end, collectible guns but I do own several. We are converting a bedroom into a hidden room and the safe will go in there. We have cameras/home alarm etc. Will the cheaper safes work for slowing down a thief? Any suggestions on different safes or other means of storage?

Wait till the black friday sales at TSC or other stores and get a fire rated safe.

I have a Sentry safe from Academy. It is fire rated and has the touch pad lock. I hate spin the dial locks, to long to open.

I have the 64 gun Cannon safe from Academy I got on a hot deal last year. It serves its purpose. There are plenty of high end safes that are better overall, but it keeps valuables locked up and guns out of kids reach.

I don't own any true safes.

I have some residential security cabinets, which are what the safes at Academy are. I'm confident in their ability to keep kids and smash and grab crack heads out.

Those are Residential Security Cabinets, RSCs, not true safes. Im sure they do what they are intended to do which is as mentioned earlier.

Safes are like guns, ammo, bow, arrows...when you ask for opinions you can discount MOST if you just get out and look/read/see the product. Some think cheaper is better, some think spend your retirement $$...but in the end, it's all about what looks good to you vs other brands and what you can afford?

Just research to find what meet's YOUR expectations and enjoy! Best of luck and I have the same safe Sleepy posted and it meets our needs for what it's worth plus a decent fire rating. Got ours from TSC with the digital keypad when they were on sale during the Christmas Holiday time and have been happy with our choice for about 4 years now.

I worry way more about fire than theft...no school lockers for my stuff.

Amsec B&F series...buy once cry once.
