    Cedar removal

Folks we finally pulled the trigger on a place outside of Kerrville. So, how much cedar do you remove? I was thinking about removing the cedar from around the oak trees and leaving the core of the property untouched. Yalls thoughts.
Another question. If you have cedars “mulched” will the mulched cedar leach into ground killing grass etc?
Is pruning large trees an option or do you leave large cedar intact for shelter belts for wildlife etc?
    Thanks in advance fellas.

I hate cedar- at least get it off the oaks. I push and burn. It takes a little while for anything to grow on cedar mulch. Native grass will come up quick. I kill them all. Did I mention I hate cedar trees

That’s the popular consensus Glen but if I took em all down I basically have an open pasture unfortunately. Thanks for your input.

I like a few shelter belts
We start cleaning out around oaks and work strategies to have travel and shelter
        Hate cedar also
My buddy took a 4hp yard edger and rigged up a skill saw blade to cut down the cedar at the base by turning the blade sideways ( his land is rocky and un mulchable)
A skid steer cedar grub is awesome in rocks

Yes and they leave a ton of mulch on the ground!
