Building a new tower, bow blind.

Ok I’m am getting ready to start building are next blind as a winter project. Kids are getting bigger and our 4x6 Fiberglass blinds are getting to small. So time to build a new one. Was thinking 6x6x8 blind but the got to thinking that the siding panels are 4x8 so why not just go 8x8. I know that’s getting pretty big but wanted to see what y’all thought. Also want to go with good windows and was thinking about installing home windows. Any suggestions. Will be set up mainly as a bow blind but will kids will rifle hunt out of it as well. Gonna be 10ft up as well.

Any thoughts or ideas, appreciate anything.

You won't be mad that you have extra room, go for it.

Oh and the hinged deerview or like windows are awesome.

My redneck blind had glass windows. Every year one would break from high winds etc. I've replaced them all with Lexan. The 8'x8' plan sounds great.

Absolutely go with 8 X 8! Horizontally installed V-groove panel makes great siding too. 3/4" foam board insulation on the inside walls n roof, then cover the walls and floor in carpet... I have one like that. I put in cheap glass windows I bought at Lowe's. Mounted them so that they slide horizontally instead of vertical... It's primarily a bow blind for me, but my grandsons can shoot off a rifle tripod comfortably with a xbow or rifle. It's quiet, warm and dry... Only wood in it is the 3/4" plywood floor. Used square tubing for the frame. It's only 6 1/2 foot elevated, but that's plenty for south Texas...

That sounds so much cheaper than the blinds I have been looking at; how long will something like yours last?

Yeah, seems like the 8x8x8 is way to go.

I built an 8x8 box and then did four more 6x6.

For 3 people 8x8 is the way to go but it was too big for two. I found myself having to slide my chair over to shoot when something came in on the opposite side I was sitting. With the 6x6 I just rotate the chair and go.

Either way I think you’ll be happy

                  I say go for it!!

Here is my thought if I was to build one.
4*8 laid sideways 2' gap for windows, 4*8 on top of that. 2 4*8 stacked on top of each for the back. Cut 4x10 at an angle for the sides

Other option is 8’ long and 6’ width. Saves you a little bit in materials but also is plenty large/lighter to get up.

I just replaced the floor in one of my towers this past weekend. That blind is 31 years old and still like new now with the new floor. Got a new piece of carpet for the floor that I will put in it next trip to the ranch. That one is a gun stand. It has Harris plank window flaps on the outside and lexan fold up windows on the inside.

Well got a good start today, built the upper frame. 8x8xx8 is big. Gonna be plenty of leg room. Building on the trailer as it’s gonna be a lot to move here at the shop. Gonna put it on 10ft legs. For my last blind I used 1/8” 2x2 angle iron for the legs and braced it. Y’all think that should still be plenty strong for the legs or do I need to go to 1/4”? Seems like over kill but i don’t want it going any where.

Well got some more done today
Floor is in, door framed in and a wall fully up and all the materials bought accept window.

So that brings me to my question, what’s the best glass deer blind windows to use and how would y’all configure to make it usable bow blind and rifle as well?
