    Wild Kingdom in the Garage!

I started to notice that our cat seemed to be eating a lot more lately and then I noticed some other tell-tale signs that something was amiss. The only access into the garage is through a very small cat door, so I had my list of the usual suspects in mind. I decided to put my trailcam up to catch the culprit. Well the raids became more frequent and more brazen, including ripping open the bag of cat food and spilling it everywhere, cat spray on the bag of food and on my wife's car, along with other vandalism. Clearly the work of a territorial tomcat. Well, I finally got a pic of him - a real life black panther eating out of my cat's bowl! OK, he's really more of a dark gray panther with a fluffy tail, but he is big (I'll post pics of him later). So I started keeping the food in a can, but one morning the whole area was wrecked including the can. I hadn't checked the cam in a couple of weeks, so I pulled the card and look what I found! 3 of the biggest coons I've seen! I wish I could've seen them squeezing through the tiny cat door. It must look like opening a can of biscuits in reverse. Now that the whole dang wild kingdom knows about the free meal, I've got to get a new 'smart' pet door that only lets in the animal wearing the right collar - $$$.

Look at the size of those things!

LOL!!! We have them, opposum, and nutria rats from the golf course pond in our back yard also. Now I might have to change my plans for a pet door when we move this summer.

For crying out loud, the one in front on the second pic looks like a wolverine! Needless to say, the wife is less than enthused to go to the chest freezer in the garage.

You better invest in one of these.

Once they know where food is, they'll find a way in.

Reminds of the John Candy / Dan Akroyd movie. Sorry for your problem but it is funny.

I had one find it's way into the garage at our old house, too. He was pretty brave, which was more concerning. He would just go sit on a shelf at the back of the garage when someone would walk in. We didn't let that go on very long. One night he decided to walk past me and out of the garage real slow. Well my cat, thats half his size, tore out after him and chased about half a block away! I don't think he'd stand a chance against those three bruisers, though.

We ended up putting a pet door that would only open when my cat's collar was close and I believe my neighbor trapped the coon and 'relocated' him.

Yep, I have had my share of critters over the years. MY problem is opposums on the front porch. The longbow took care of them

                          We constantly have that problem.

This weekend while we were at the lease one chewed a hole in a 3 gallon jug of used fish oil from Bonanza. That was not a mess I wanted to find after driving home.

He was caught Sunday night and transported far away. His accomplice was caught last night.
