So kind of a cool story.
Was sitting in the stand tonight not seeing much but the weather was perfect and figured I would see something sooner or later. About 15 minutes to total darkness two raccoons come out and were milling around underneath the feeder. Knowing that the pigs we're showing up right at dark based on the previous evening sit, and knowing that coons arent too fond of pigs from past experience, I watched them closely and knew that if they scurried off that the pigs were close by. Sure enough they hightailed it out of there in a hurry and i knew right then what was about to unfold. Took about a minute before they came out of the brush but when they did, I picked out the only one that I could truly see at that point... which happened to be spotted white, and settled in. It was so dark that I thought to myself... I dont feel like tracking this thing through the woods at night so I decided to take the most lethal shot I could. Sent the arrow and it instantly sounded like an sledgehammer hitting a stump. Watched it run off without a hiccup, no squealing or anything. At first I was confused when I couldn't find my arrow so I was thinking that maybe I missed but after making some circles I ended up picking up a spot of blood about 10 yds from where I shot it. Tracked it 80yds on a solid trail and there he laid. Ended up piercing the ear and straight into the boiler room. From the time I shot to the time I found him was 15 minutes, dead as a doornail.
Never in a million years would I take this shot on a deer, but a pig is a different story. Made a memory that I'll never forget.
