    Motor replace cost?

Found a deal on a 2004 GMC Sierra z71 with a 5.3L about a year ago. Son's 16th is approaching and I figured that would do for him. Currently getting some bad ju-ju from it and suspect a engine replace/rebuild is in the future.

Anyone have recent experience on what that will cost? Having it towed to repair shop tomorrow.

How many miles on the motor? Those 5.3s will get to 250+ if taken care of

if you can do the work yourself it will be cheap. You can get a good junk yard engine for a good price

Just a note, a motor is electrical, an engine is gas.

An engine is in front of a train or in a fire house. A motor is a motor.

Not too expensive to replace you can get an ls 5.3 for a couple hundred bucks or a 6.0 for about $1200, work is fairly easy to do if your tech savvy. If you want to rebuild it’s gonna cost you a little more with parts and la or depending what needs to be done to it

And a replacement is a lot cheaper than another truck more than likely

The 5.3L in a Tahoe my wife had years ago gave up at 100k miles. I called around Houston and found several places where low mileage replacements were available for cheap. I believe I paid $1200 installed for an engine with 44k miles and a small warranty. The swap out isn't hard if you have the time, tools, and skills but I was short on time.

Did you buy this new? 100k is unacceptable.
