    Deer scents and proper uses

For those of you that use bottled scents such as doe in heat, what is your favorite way of using it? Can anyone contribute any success to using a scent. If anyone has a favorite scent to use I am interested to know. Just picked up some black widow red label and look forward to trying it

I use Scent Blasters. It has a 2oz reservoir and a fan that blows across the wick and puts the scent out even if its not windy. I start it with bedding scents even before the season starts. When the reservoir is empty just switch it out with a full one or fill it back up. Use the same wick and keep rocking your scent. Ill leave the estrus scent all weekend and bucks will keep coming back to check it at all times of the day and night.

I want to say it is a guy in Tyler that owns the company.

I just use cover scents--skunk. Put a couple of cotton balls in a pill bottle, add couple of drops of skunk essence, tie it to the stand w/fishing line. When I get to the stand, I take off the lid, and just put it back on when I leave.

I’m using the Black Widow this year. I spray it at the base of the tree & hang some wicks out with it on them. Then spray a few squirts every now & then from the tree. When Split came in on Friday he was checking the base of the tree & made he way around to the trees that had the wicks hanging in them. This is the only scent that I’ve actually seen deer check out.

Never really worked for me. Will be using Evercalm on my boots this year though

I’ve always fooled around with using special golden Estrus and have had young bucks go wild over it. The black widow sure smells different. I seen the black widow at tractor supply and figured I’d give it a go.

I spray it on the bottom of my boots when walking into the stand. That's the only way Iv'e ever had success with it.

It seems like an interesting device. I may get one to mess with. I like that it could keep scent in an area for an extended period

They are awesome. I run 4 of them through out the season. Different scents for different times.

I've tried golden estrus before on scent pads and as far as I can tell the deer don't pay attention to them. My blind is about 8ft off the ground with big cedar trees on two sides of me. I figure as strong as the scent is coming off of them, it might block my scent fairly well? At least that's what I think. Killed some good deer from my blind.

I have used scents effectively to start mock scrapes that are still going 5 years later. I have also used a drag rag effectively only when the rut is hot and heavy. other than that it's just a cover scent. And in my experience my deer know Tink's and avoid it. I've had the best success with Mrs Doe Pee.

Are any of the spray can scents any good?
