    Scope sun shades

Who uses their sun shades on their scopes. I read a couple of Sniper forums as well as info posted from photographers about the use and what they do. How many hunters use them all the time, or just have them in their bag?

I leave mine on 95% of the time... I have glare issues more than lowlight issues

              Don't use them much.
They cut light gathering and FOV

With quality glass they are typically not needed.

I have had one scope with a sun shade. It's still in the gun cabinet, never went on the rifle. I try not to shoot towards the sun. I have to admit. If I had one for some of my other scopes. I would probably use them. Because my rifle range at the house, is facing west. usually when I am shooting, it's in the afternoon, so a shade would be nice. But none of the scopes I have on any of my rifles, currently, have sun shades. So I have to hold my hand out in front and above the scope objective, when I am shooting in the afternoon, at the house.

The majority of the rest of the time, I don't need a sun shade. I have learned to shoot at the house in the morning. The neighbors need a wake up alarm and I don't have a sun shade. So I make sure everyone in the area is up early on the days I am wanting to shoot lately.
