How many of you guys shoot every spike you see? I shoot spikes if they are 2 years old or older, but not before. I still believe spikes may be late fawns or a product of nutrition, not inferior.

Ihave read a number of articles debating the "shoot all spikes or not" issue and I have concluded that really old spikes need to go, but baby spikes need to be allowed to develop. Two separate scientifically defensible studies (one in Tx and the other in Mississippi) came to the same conclusion, that by age 3.5, bucks whose first set of antlers were spikes caught up to their branch-antlered peeers in each category of antler measurement except mass, and beyond 3.5 years the antlers were identical.
