    Shiplap / Cedar Accent wall

I want to remove these built ins and shiplap or cover it with a rough cedar. I want a “rustic” look so I can hang some more heads up. Would old fence pickets be the way to go or is there a better material to use?

I’ve used some rough shiplap from Home Depot and it looks really good and it’s super easy to install. U can also pick different colors .

Fence pickets would be your least expensive options. You can even mill them to make your own ship lap. Much cheaper than buying it already milled. The other option would be to buy cedar direct from a mill to save money. Still won’t be as cheap as pickets. And if you already have the pickets, then you’re ahead because you won’t need to buy them.

Just saw you are located in tomball. There is a mill in Huntsville that has the best prices around for cedar. Don’t buy from Lucas cedar in new waverly. They are not cheap. Lol

I did a rough cedar wall in my man cave for trophy wall. 6” ting and groove western red cedar. Turned out great.

I did stick on vinyl planks on a wall. Really easy to do and I always thought it would make for a good trophy wall

I used rustic grade cedar planks / pickets for my cabin. They have knot holes and lots of character. They were $3 a board (6”x6’)

Non rustic grade pretty cedar planks were a little cheaper.

Here is a picture of western red live edge cedar we did for a customer that wanted it for an accent wall in a small house they own. Gives you an idea of how it looks. Don’t let that red cedar get any sun on it or it will change brown quick.

That is very nice, how do you get the next board butting up to the live edge to fit like that?
