What a fun hunt. One of my best friends family ranch is getting too many Audad so for a month or so he and I had been talking bout going to hunt them. He wanted me to kill a nice ram. He knew there were a couple hitting his feeder kinda last minute trip we headed up and made a natural ground blind and setup bout 2:30. At 4pm 2 nice young rams came in but were spooky and didn’t stay long. Feeder went off at 4:30 and 5min later 5 came in all younger ones. They got spooked also. Wind wasn’t ideal but we had deer between us and them a couple times and deer didn’t spook so not sure if something else was spooking them or their nose is just better than deer. Around 5 I was watching a spike feed and he kept looking to our left and then he blew out of there. When he did I looked and a really big ram came to the edge of feeder pen. I told my buddy big ram and was trying to get my gun up but he bolted and never got a shot. Had 1 more small ram come in and he spooked before ever getting in the feeder pen. At this point I’m already thinking it’s over for the day and the next trip we need to work on our scent control. So like 9 Audad and 5 deer had all come from our left. About 6:15 from the right side maybe 40yrds and big ram walks out. I tell my buddy big ram but he can’t see him he moves behind the Brush. This is my 1st experience hunting these suckers and he looks huge to me so I get my gun up but I’m waiting on my buddy to get a look to say yes or no. He finally comes out enough to get a look and he tells he bust his ***** if you have a shot. Took another min or so for him to clear the brush. Finally had a shot and let him have it. He went 50-60 yards. When we find him I was shocked. I really had no idea how big they were. He ended up being 29&30.Long winded recap but it was such a fun hunt.
