I get that look all the time when I hand them the change like that. If they don’t have the machine to do the math, they are lost!!!!!!

In your defense PB2, you were just testing her to see if she could catch the mistake. Right?

Everbody does a little math wrong once in a while. Everybody has a brain fart. Even computers have brain farts. They are called crashes.

She has this look of confusion on her face. She says your bills $7.87. I replied yes ma'am i should get $5.75 back. She said ok? Entered it in the register and had a surprised look on her face. Than proceeds to give me $5.25 change back...

Made me wonder. This whole exact change coin shortage thing. Is it really because kids can't do math in their heads anymore?
                Just curious.....why?

Why would you even think about tendering more than 10.00 for the bill? You intentionally trying to be difficult? I wouldn't accept that amount. Take the ten and give ya change.

                        Not being difficult at all.
They wanted exact change because of the coin shortage.

Since I don't like ones i tried to get the biggest bill back in change i could and the least amount of coins.

I was just wondering when did $7.87 worth of food become a snack?

I think the best part is where you showed your work.
Partial credit for that at least.

This answered my question. Just curious why you paid with that amount
