Trying to get a pig a month

I took some time off in late Aug. and went to the lease with my son thinking we would stay and do some pig hunting before Dove season started. Well I was able to get a sow about 86lbs. After that I got to thinking why not try and get one a month with a bow. Since August was done I went out in September and got a 96lb sow.

I have talked to some friends at work and have them lined up for pork. My freezer is full so I’m going to give it to them since they don’t hunt but like the fresh pork. I’ll try and post a pic of September’s pig but don’t have one for August. But I have a witness lol.

Sunday 9/20 I walk into my stand climb the stairs on the tripod and got settled and ready and waited the 20 minutes for the feeder to go off. 2 seconds later a big 250+lb boar walked up and was acting skittish. He must have been laying down waiting for the feeder to go off when I walked into my stand. He rain off twice but couldn’t resist the golden kernels and came back each time. I drew back on him twice and he jump away and run in and grab a bite or two. I finally drew back and released and he jumped just as I released. Clean miss but he runs behind some mesquite and growls for about 10 minutes. Finally he leaves and some more smaller pigs come in a a nice 96lb sow gave me a shot and she ran 30 yards and piled up.

So now I have to get October’s pig. Wish me luck.

Love killing pigs with the stick and string! Got a small sow tonight that was with four others. Was really hoping they’d come back to the feeder and give me another shot but no such luck.

If you are hunting anywhere near me in Young County it shouldn’t be hard to kill several a month. We are covered in hogs this year.
