Not legal. You join MLD you're stuck with what you're issued. Whole point is to manage the herd and not kill everything, not to have more tags to shoot more deer with.

But sounds fishy to me. I'd probably do it if I needed to shoot a deer and if the lease manager signed a paper stating the area I hunted was not under MLD. But I bet he won't sign anything.

This. I've hunted ranches before that had a pasture in the ranch that was not in the mld program and you had to use your own tags, but the particular pasture was known and all that hunted it knew no mld tags for it and the season open/closed with the states archery and general season for that county. Gotta play by the rules, not worth risking it in todays times.....

Ha! You first...hypothetically. Yeah, I'm certainly out cuz it's very wrong. I'm thinkin' if it's a lease manager playin' games that the LO doesn't know about and it ends up costing the LO in fines, losing MLD status, ag exemption etc. Could get ugly and potentially get everyone thrown off the lease cuz they all know it's goin' on....hypothetically. I wouldn't rat or be an asterisk, but I might tell my pal that invited me to be smart.

If the biologist assigned to that club knew they were taking deer and tagging them with non MLD tags they’d prolly get booted from MLDP.
