    Fishing Elm Fork Trinity River

Any of you gents ever put kayaks in behind Ray Roberts dam and float south fishing??? My son really wanting to go somewhere to kayak fish and curious if this was worth the trip.

Any input is appreciated. Stay safe

We had a group of guys who would take a weekend trip & put in on Friday night below PK dam & float the Brazos. We'd camp Friday night & Saturday night & float the river & fish during the day. Great way to make memories.

Used to all the time back in my college...but its best/most productive in the spring when the sandbass and crappie are running.

I haven't been that far north but I've run Elm Fork from the Lewisville Dam to McCommas Buff Park many times training for the Texas Water Safari. Do not recommend fishing that section unless you enjoy lots of trash.
North of Lewisville is probably a bit cleaner- worth a shot!

Done it once. Probably 2015 or 16. Had fun. Lots of log jams, downed trees to portage around or under. Didn’t fish. Just went from the dam to the 380 take out. Was a fun afternoon. Free if you have a tpwd parks pass.
