I bought my son an Outlander 650XT about 6 weeks ago. I am very impressed with it. In my opinion they are just so much more refined and comfortable that than Honda and Yamaha. I like you had only ever owned those two brands in the past. The only negative I have on this new bike is the clutches seem noisy to me but everyone I talk to says it's normal. I will say this.....it will flat out scare you with it's performance. It comes with 2 keys....Grandpa and "Hold My Beer and Watch This"
My buddy's Outlander 570 just ran out of warranty and on our annual elk hunt, his ATV started knocking real bad. Changed the oil and there were brass shavings throughout the oil. Can Am had it in their shop for 4 months to replace a bent frame last year that was causing an alignment issue. His previous Can Am gave him 10k trouble free miles. I'm sure they're all good, until they're not. Id definitely buy an extended warranty.
I have a ‘19 outlander 570dps and It will flat out perform. It is scary fast for a 570. The canam 570 is more on a level playing field with the grizzly 700 in terms of power/performance. The clutches do sound a tad loud, but that is normal for a canam. I have zero regrets about getting the canam and would like to upgrade to an 850 at some point.
I had always been a Yamaha guy. I still have an older Yamaha that is a tank, but there is no comparison to the outlander.
