Syl and I had another great trip on the Clearwater River in Idaho. We ended up catching 4 keeper salmon and one native steelhead which had to be released. All fish were caught bouncing salmon eggs on the bottom while drift fishing.
As an added bonus, when our friend Greg caught wind of our trip, showed up to deck hand for us. Nice to spend the day together. Stormy the guide beached the boat and we grilled burgers for lunch. I had my doubts about catching, since the fish counts over the dams on the Columbia and Snake Rivers (8 total before reaching Idaho) were not that good.
Syl won the day with a monster Chinook 40 inches long and estimated 30-35 lbs.
Greg has fished and guided the Clearwater since 1977 and said it was the biggest he had seen caught up in the river.
Thanks for coming along and enjoy some pics.
