I have a son that is 8 and we are past the children's books at night. So far I have read 3 of the Harry Potter books to him, about to start #4. I took a break from those once a read him Old Man and the Sea. I've read Robert Ruark's The Old Man and the Boy and may read that one to him. Any suggestions?

How about a few old but timeless tales? "Call of the Wild" and "White Fang" by Jack London were written over 100 years ago but they hold up very well - reading them as a kid got me hooked on outdoor adventure stories. Another old one "The Jungle Book" written in 1894 by Rudyard Kipling would be a good choice for bedtime because they are a bunch of short stories.Last edited by jerp; 09-09-2020, 02:26 PM.

Same! I think Call of the Wild was the first “real” book I ever read. Me and my dog Tippy spent a lot of time in the woods of East Montgomery County, pretending to be in the Yukon![emoji23][emoji23][emoji23]
